Tom & Miranda's Story

Hello! We are Tom and Miranda. It has been such a blessing to receive support from Abba Canada to help us with our journey of adoption. Adoption has been on our hearts for a long time, having been something we talked about during our dating years. We are grateful and humbled to look back and reflect on the ways God had been leading us.

Though we knew we wanted to build our family through adoption, there was still so much to consider. As we began to learn more about adoption, there were lots of questions, uncertainty and often times, anxiousness about what lay ahead. We have found God’s faithfulness so evident to us through this time. He reminds us often of His promise in 2 Corinthians 12:9 - “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

We began our application process for adopting our son from South Korea in 2018. Adopting internationally during the COVID pandemic has been a whirlwind of emotions and additional costs. The ABBA grant was yet another amazing testimony of God’s providence and covering over us on this journey. Thanks to the funding, we’ve been able to stay in South Korea between our court date and custody date, so we can look forward to bringing our son home sooner. We’ve had the opportunity to visit our son several times because of this stay. We know the transition for him will be a challenging one as he will leave his loving foster family to be with us, but we trust that God’s providence will cover us again as it always does.
